Extruded coatings on fuel line tubing are susceptible to leak paths from scratches on the surface caused by irregularities in the extrusion process. This paper will explore the challenges and the difficulties in detecting hair-like longitudinal scratches on the tube surface. Scratches may appear at any random time, in any random position around the tube requiring a full 360° inline inspection.
